First Wednesday Luncheon: “A History of Data…How We Got Here” with Brian Mueller

     For the Westfield Historical Society’s First Wednesday Luncheon series in December, guests are welcome to the luncheon at Echo Lake Country Club on Wednesday December 4th, 2024 beginning with check-in at 11:45am. Technology expert, Brian Mueller, will talk on “A History of Data … How We Got Here.”

    Mr. Mueller’s presentation covers a history of data and its application. The talk touches upon significant contributors to the world of data, the increased use of data over time; how it plays a part in our lives; the geopolitical impacts of the use of data and how it feeds the world of AI today.

     Brian Mueller has spent more than 25 years in the field of technology, management and leadership; rising to the position of Distinguished Member of Technical Staff within AT&T Bell Laboratories and serving in senior level positions for Chubb Insurance, Medco, and JPMorgan Chase, Prudential Financial and Snowflake, Inc. In 2019, Brian began Verstandnis Analytics Corporation – a company which provides bespoke analytics solutions and educational courses in data literacy and career enablement.

     Brian is also an adjunct professor of Data Analytics, Business Intelligence and Modeling within the MBA program for Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.

     Brian holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from St. Peter’s College as well as a Masters in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology, an MBA in Management Science from Rutgers University and a Certificate in Analytics from Stevens Institute of Technology.

     In a voluntary capacity, Mr. Mueller serves as VP of Innovation and Treasurer for the First Region of The Association of the United States Army. The Association of the United States Army provides leadership and support to deployed Army personnel and families.

The luncheon fee of $40 (WHS members) or $45 (non-members) includes a three-course meal, coffee/tea, and gratuity. The luncheon fee should be paid in advance (check payable to Westfield Historical Society) by mailing to Westfield Historical Society, P.O.
