  • Presbyterian Church of Westfield 140 Mountain Avenue Westfield, NJ, 07090 United States (map)

Each Spring, the History organizations in Westfield come together and present a Spring Assembly which is open to the public. The pandemic has interrupted the 2020 and 2021 programs, but they are back! This year, the Westfield Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is organizing the program to be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 7:30 pm at the Assembly Room of The Presbyterian Church of Westfield. Christa Hannon will present the program on historical information related to that pivotal time in history, the Roaring Twenties.

The Westfield Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host the annual spring assembly of local historical societies on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westfield Presbyterian Church’s assembly hall. The program will feature keynote speaker Christa Hannon, who will present apt historical information on the Roaring Twenties, a period of significant social and economic changes in America. Ms. Hannon has been a history teacher in West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, one of the consistently highest ranking high schools in New Jersey, for many years. As an educator with a particular interest in American history and women in history, she is at present working on her second master’s degree in her area of expertise. In addition to Christa Hannon, the evening’s other participants will include Barb Benko, the regent of the Westfield DAR, and Reverend Jeremy Jinkins, the Westfield Presbyterian Church’s pastor and head of staff, who will provide the invocation.

The Spring Assembly programs are offered to the public, each Spring, through the efforts of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Westfield Chapter; The Genealogical Society of the West Fields; The Miller-Cory House Museum Volunteers; The Sons of the American Revolution, West Fields Chapter; the Westfield Historical Society; and The Westfield Presbyterian Church.

The program will begin at 7:30 pm at The Presbyterian Church’s Assembly Hall located at 140 Mountain Avenue in Westfield, NJ. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The meeting hall entrance is by the parking lot. Light refreshments will be served following the program.
