Garden Tours and Tea at the Reeve House - presented by the Rake & Hoe Garden Club and the Westfield Historical Society

Enjoy a garden tour, a tree tour, a butterfly talk, and hunt for the dozens of Fairy Houses placed throughout the property.

The Rake & Hoe Garden Club and the Westfield Historical Society invite the community to partake in Garden and Arboretum Tours of the Reeve House property on Saturday, May 22nd from 2-4pm (a rain date is planned for May 23rd).

     Guests will enjoy tours of the Claire Brownell Memorial Gardens which are maintained by the Rake & Hoe Garden Club and funded by the Caroline Stephens Holt Fund; and, separate tours of the Reeve House property’s arboretum. The Reeve family were amateur horticulturists and planted many unique specimens of trees on the property. In addition, there will be a talk by Diane Genco on the Monarch Butterfly and maintaining a butterfly-friendly garden. Dozens of Fairy Houses, created by the Rake & Hoe Juniors along with adult members, are placed throughout the property. Go on a Fairy House hunt and see how many you can find & snap. Families are encouraged to attend. It is recommended to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for lawn seating.

     Refreshments will be served and the Rake & Hoe Garden Club will be selling pollinator plants. Books and items of historical interest will also be available for sale by the Westfield Historical Society.

     Registration is required in order to meet pandemic guidelines. Space is limited so reserve early. The fee to attend is:  $5 for members, and $10 for non-members; and children under 12 are free. Admission can be paid at the gate upon arrival. The Reeve House is located at 314 Mountain Avenue, Westfield.

     The Mission of the Rake & Hoe Garden Club of Westfield is to educate their membership and the public in horticulture, floral design, nature, and wildlife.  Their garden club members are very community minded also and work with the Lyons Hospital, Cerebral Palsy, Mobile Meals, and four community gardens in Westfield.
