First Wednesday Luncheon: JOURNEY THROUGH HISTORIC IRELAND CASTLES, COASTLINES & CELTIC RELICS" with Lisa Wendel

  • Echo Lake Country Club 515 Springfield Avenue Westfield, NJ, 07090 United States (map)

Flung into the foggy fringe of the Atlantic Pond is the mossy country of Ireland, steeped in history, mystery, and a proverbial pot of gold. Irish culture is known for its unique language, intricate art, and mesmerizing music. However, these attributes are equally paralleled by its prehistoric, fascinating, and feisty past which we will be discovering together.

Join the Westfield Historical Society on Wednesday, Nov 3rd, 12 pm, at the Echo Lake Country Club when Lisa Wendel shares her love of travel to this lush island. Learn about Celtic and Christian ruins, cliffside fortresses and prehistoric sites and burial mounds older than Stonehenge. Brú Na Bóinee (Newgrange) and the Hill of Tara, the ancient chapel and medieval Rock of Cashel, the proud town and impressive castle of Kilkenny and the monastic settlement of St. Kevin in Glendalough are some of the exciting places you will visit on this historical journey. The Society can’t offer you an authentic pint of Guinness, but they will promise a mesmerizing and intoxicating talk.
