Westfield Historical Society First Wednesday Luncheon – The History of Tea and Tea Tasting
As part of the Westfield Historical Society’s First Wednesday Luncheon series, Peter F. Goggi will be presenting a talk on the history of Tea and Tea Tasting on January 3rd, 2018. The event will begin at 12PM at the Echo Lake Country Club, located at 515 Springfield Avenue, Westfield.
Peter F. Goggi is currently the President of the Tea Association of the U.S.A. He began his career at Unilever Where he spent 30 years working with Lipton Tea as a part Royal Estates Tea Company, eventually serving as its President. During those years, he was responsible for all tea purchased for Unilever’s tea business in North and South America and oversaw all blend formulations and tea quality assurance. Peter was the first American-born Tea Taster in the history of T.J. Lipton/Unilever and was also featured on the History Channel’s “Modern Marvels”.
Peter's last assignment at Unilever was Director, Procurement Commodities –Americas, focused on the strategic development, risk management and purchase of vegetable oils, dairy, peanuts, chocolate, rice, wheat, pasta and energy for all of Unilever business in Americas, and he was responsible for spending in excess of 1.3 billion Euro.
As a president of the Tea Association, Peter has implemented a new Strategic Plan, support driving the tea & health message of the Tea Council; executing the growth agenda for the Specialty Tea institute, and helping to guide the Tea industry on its path of growth. Peter previously served as Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Tea Association, including a role on the Board of Directors for more than ten years.
Peter is a highly sought after speaker, bringing experience and insights to those interested in understanding the tea industry and identifying opportunities for growth.
Peter graduated from SUNY Cortland with a BSc in Chemistry and a minor in music (vocal performance), later earning his MBA in Marketing with a certificate in international Business from Seton Hall University.
Peter is married to Carol Goggi, the Westfield Historical Society's Executive Assistant, and they have two children, a son Peter and a daughter Giulia.

The luncheon fee of $35 (WHS members) or $40 (non-members) includes a three-course meal, coffee/tea, and gratuity. The luncheon fee may be paid at the door. Westfield Historical Society memberships will also be available at the luncheon. For those guests with diet restrictions, please mention this at time of reservation.
