AppleFest 2018

  • The Reeve History & Cultural Resource Center 314 Mountain Avenue Westfield, NJ, 07090 United States (map)

The Westfield Historical Society AppleFest committee has been working hard to prepare the 10th annual Applefest, which will be held on Saturday, September 29th, from noon-4:00 PM on the grounds of the Reeve History & Cultural Resource Center. A rain date of Sunday, September 30th is planned.

The theme of AppleFest 2018 will be “Anniversaries”.  Through our planned activities, we will focus on the 10th anniversary of AppleFest, 50th Anniversary of Westfield Historical Society, 100th Anniversary of Mindowaskin Park and 150th Anniversary of the Fairview Cemetery.  We will also promote the idea of “Anniversaries” as a prelude to the big anniversary that is coming up, 300th of Westfield, in 2020.

We will of course continue traditions such as old-fashion children’s games, history-related quizzes for history buffs, tours of the historic Reeve House, and, of course, the Apple Pie baking competition.

Before leaving, visitors will have the chance to stop by our AppleCafe, to sample popular offerings of the `30s and `40s such as meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, salad from Victory gardens and Jell-O.   Our local artist Danny Schwartz is once again preparing our commemorative poster.  Please mark the date on your calendars, and tell your friends! It will be a great community event for all ages.
